Outfit tips for brand photography in Ocala
Real talk: figuring out what to wear for your branding session is the exact moment where most people go from excited and ready to slightly feral and talking to hangers. If you’ve ever stood in front of your closet and muttered, “I own nothing, I hate all of this, and I should probably cancel,” congratulations: you are wildly normal.
But don’t cancel. Don’t spiral. Just… read this.
I promise: you don’t need a full wardrobe overhaul. You just need a little strategy, a few great pieces, and maybe a pep talk from your friendly neighborhood branding photographer (hi).
Whether you’re a barefoot-in-the-office creative or a sharp-as-nails CEO, your wardrobe should look like you, feel like you, and whisper sweet nothings to your ideal client like, “I’m trustworthy and fun to work with.”
Start with 2–3 Outfits. That’s It.
Seriously.
Why? Because more outfits usually = more stress, more bags, more mid-session indecision. What we actually want is variety without chaos. And a few thoughtfully chosen outfits go a long way.
Try this mix:
- One Polished Look
Something you’d wear on your website, LinkedIn, or for a keynote (or at least a very grown-up Zoom call). Think blazer, dress, blouse and trousers, flowy skirt, or just your “I feel expensive” outfit.

- One Chill, Approachable Look
The outfit that says, “I’m still the expert, but I’m also a real person with a favorite coffee order.” Maybe jeans and a tee, a flowy dress and bare feet, a sweater that makes you feel like a cozy genius.
- One Signature or Statement Look (optional but fun)
This is your chance to go bold. That color you love. That print that screams you. That branded tee or apron or magical power cloak. Whatever says “this is my brand, turned up just a notch.”

What Works on Camera (And What Doesn’t)
YES, PLEASE:
- Textures: linen, silk, knits, leather, denim. Texture = dimension
- Pops of your brand colors (subtle or bold, we love a nod)
- Clean lines and fitted shapes that move with you
- Layers: jackets, scarves, button-downs, they add interest + options

NO, THANK YOU:
- Neon colors (trust me)
- Distracting patterns or loud logos (unless it’s your actual brand)
- Shiny fabrics, clingy fabrics, or things that shift every five seconds
- Anything you constantly tug at. If it needs policing, leave it behind
Quick Fit Check Before You Commit:
- Move around in your outfit. Raise your arms. Sit down. Spin around (optional).
- Does it still feel good? Can you breathe? Can you smile without thinking about your waistband? If yes, it’s a keeper.
- Look at it in natural light (window, not bathroom). Do you like the color on you? Great. We’re in business.
Still Panicking? I Got You.
If you’re booked with me, we go over all of this. I’ll help you narrow down what to bring, pick the order, and make sure everything works with your session location, mood, and brand voice.
And if you want to go full Pinterest board + try-on haul + “help me, Adri” moment, I’m here for that too. Really. You don’t have to wing this.
Coming Soon:
Need something you don’t already own?
In the next post, we’re talking about how to elevate your look without buying a whole new wardrobe, including:
- Clothing rentals (yes, it’s a thing, and a good one)
- Where to buy quality secondhand online
- Borrowing from friends (they owe you anyway)
Let’s make magic with what you’ve got, or what you can very cleverly acquire.
